Anchored

The time changed this past Sunday, falling back. Not my favorite thing because it means longer nights. No more sitting on the deck until 8:30 or 9:00 p.m. Porch lights are on now by six and the doors shut and locked. More time spent inside my house and less outdoors.

However, there is always a blessing in the darkest of times. The sun rises much earlier now. I'm able to view spectacular skies as God brings in the new day.

Yesterday morning I found this lone clematis. Brave little flower defying the cold temperatures and a season of non blooming for this plant. There it was smiling up at me as if to say "All things are possible through Christ."

That one small bloom brought a smile to my heart and lifted my spirits. There are so many friends who are suffering through trials in their lives right now. The news programs talk about terrible events happening each day. Sometimes I'm overwhelmed with the madness of the world. But I'm reminded not to despair by the blessing of one lone flower.

"Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world..." Philippians 2:14-15

The clematis reminded me that never in history have times been without chaos. I'm anchored to the One behind the veil and even in the midst of the worst circumstances, He will never, ever remove the anchor.

Hope it gets fixed soon.
